Dry Needling vs Manual Therapy in Muscat

الوخز الجاف مقابل العلاج اليدوي

Both are hands-on physiotherapy tools — but they work differently. Learn which may suit your pain.

Manual therapy includes joint mobilisation, soft tissue release, and myofascial techniques applied by the therapist's hands. It improves movement, reduces muscle tension, and prepares the body for exercise. It is often the first choice for stiff necks, frozen shoulder, and general back pain.

Dry needling uses thin, sterile needles inserted into trigger points — tight bands within muscle. It is not acupuncture; it is a Western medicine technique performed by trained physiotherapists to reduce pain and improve muscle function quickly.

At QuadZone Muscat, we do not choose one approach for every patient. Assessment determines the mix: some respond best to manual work first; others benefit from needling when trigger points dominate. Many sessions combine both plus exercise.

Dry needling may cause brief soreness similar to post-workout ache. Manual therapy is generally comfortable, though deep release can feel intense temporarily. Your therapist adjusts pressure and explains each step.

If you are unsure which you need, book a general assessment. Our MOH-licensed team will recommend evidence-based care — ISO 9001 certified processes ensure consistent quality every visit.
